November will be our last meetup of the year with presentations. December is a slow meetup month, but we will be holding our 4th Annual Holiday Open Source Social Event. 2011 will be an extremely exciting year in Chicago Drupal as we will be the host city for Drupalcon. During our November meetup the Drupalcon Chicago team will be giving a presentation of what to expect and recruiting volunteers. If you are interested in helping Drupalcon Chicago, this your chance to get involved. Not to mention we also have two regularly scheduled presentations for November, details below.
For the first time ever, CDMUG is proud to announce Fredric Mitchell who will be presenting "CTools and AJAX Cache". Fredric is a developer at Treehouse Agency, a boutique Drupal firm servicing clients all around the world. He's been hovering around in the Drupal community since his days at Palantir.net and continues to be a paying Drupal Association individual member. You can find some of his work through his freelance hub at brightplum.com and pops in, answering questions on drupal.org under the name fmitchell. Always obsessed with the cleanest and simplest UI principles, Fredric is in love with Mercurial and Drush and thinks Drupal is doing great things with their push towards distributions.
Our second presentation will be "Using Multigroup in CCK 3" by Steve Persch. Steve is a developer at Mightybytes, a web development and interactive design firm on Chicago's North Side. At Mightybytes, Steve spends most of his time architecting and building client sites. Steve started working with Drupal as a freelancer in 2007. You can find Steve throughout the Drupal ecosystem under the username stevector. Strike up a conversation at the meetup by asking him why he recently built a site using Zen and four layers of subthemes, or why Mightybytes uses the same SVN repository for most of their Drupal projects. You can also just ask him to gush about Drush.

The Chicago Drupal Meet Up Group is proud to present at least two featured presentations about the hottest Drupal topics each month. We have room for about 60 people and all skill levels are welcomed. If you are brand new to Drupal we recommend attending one of our free monthly training workshops.
Lisa Fischer of THE OFFICE has volunteered her wonderful meetup location. Many of you made it out to our September event at THE OFFICE. Such great feedback was provided about the venue, we decided to go back. Everyone loved the location, tons of parking, and being across the street from California Blue Line.
Fredric Mitchell will be presenting....CTools is a developer's carpenter toolbox. While the in-code commenting provides a wealth of information, there are a few UI elements that you can easily tie into your custom modules. This presentation will go over some of those tools as well as cover a nice integration with Ajaxcache, a module designed to keep your ajax-driven development fast and furious. We may even throw in some goodies for Dialog module as well.
Steve Persch will be presenting....Using Multigroup in CCK 3. CCK 3 for Drupal 6 provides a way to combine the fieldgroup concept with the multivalue field concept that CCK users have known for years. While still officially a dev release, CCK 3 is stable and being used in production sites. This presentation will go over the interface for adding a multigroup to a content type and how using multigroups impacts building Views.
Almost every CDMUG presentation is recorded and now available online @ http://cdmug.org/videos
If you are not able to physically attend, join us virtually in our #cdmug IRC chat room on freenode. Members hang out in the chat room on a daily basis even when meetups are not happening. All meetups will be in traditional CDMUG fashion. No dress code, relaxed attitudes, open ideas, laptop encouraged, remember business cards, and we will probably go for a beer afterward.
