Event type:
User group meeting

We'd like to squeeze in one more meetup before the holiday season gets too busy.

TOPIC(S): Open for discussion and open for volunteer presenters

LOCATION: Artengine M70 Lab at Arts Court, 2 Daly Avenue, Ottawa, ON which is across the street from the Rideau Centre and Novotel hotel.

Enter Arts Court from the front entrance, up all those stairs. Pass through the first two sets of doors to enter the foyer and walk straight to where the front hallway ends at the Ottawa Art Gallery. Turn LEFT and walk through two sets of doors. The Artengine Lab is on your RIGHT just after you pass through that 2nd set of doors.

Wheelchair access is possible via the door to the left of the front entrance. Ring the intercom bell at that door, and an attendant from the front desk will come down and open the door for you.

PUBLIC TRANSIT: Mackenzie King Bridge or Rideau St. stations at the Rideau Shopping Centre.

To clarify - after you go through the double-door, the second door you will go through is a single door, is blue and looks like a door to room rather than a hallway. Once you go through the blue door, the lab will be immediately to your right.

don't see any discussion about topic of this meet so is it just a general get together?

While deciding last month's

While deciding last month's topic Features was suggested. No one has volunteered as yet to lead a discussion.

I'm working on my first real custom Drupal site and have enough newb questions to fill an hour or two. :-)

Mostly in custom theming best practices, interacting with the API, where to store data (does it all have to be in nodes), panels vs. custom div locations. You get the picture. All on Drupal 7 (yes I know it's not out.. )

I pity the poor sucker who shows up.

Hey I appreciated the meeting

Hey
I appreciated the meeting and hearing about how we can create menu's. I liked seeing the module being copied that was closest to what the development called for and beginning there.

Also I noted that my last couple of weeks working with eclipse hasn't been wasted since other Drupal members have already been using like programs for development.

PS: I'm glad you guys came out to order pizza and offer your time.

Thanks. Maybe one day I'll buy your pizza for all the stuff you can teach us there.

PS:// If anyone was interested in looking at red5 demo's and the Drupal red5 module here: http://drupal.org/project/red5flashserver.

The server is running inside a jail needing two ports to run. http://red5.com-munity.ca:5080

Red5 Server

mlecha's picture

Hi Paul,

I missed what you're attempting to do with the red5 server. Stream live video or stream prepared videos?

Is the red5 server working outside of Drupal?

The Drupal module that you linked to above to integrate red5 into Drupal appears to be abandoned and doesn't work with new releases. I'd poke around the message boards that relate to that module itself.

Michael

Sorry I missed it

I was hoping to make it out to my first meeting. It sounds like it would have been perfect for me. I am still struggling with what I think are basic things like customizing a form for CCK content type.

Hopefully, I will make it to the next one.

Happy Holidays!

I only notice the module was

I only notice the module was there and abandoned too. I don't know what the fellow was going to do with it. But a flash server is rtmp and some drupal modules allow you to choose your own rtmp server to stream to. So red5 is that and you don't have to pay for it.

Also after some more time I plan to use it or blender to start a game module in drupal.
