At our December meeting, Mike Potter gave a great overview for our first meeting with the student chapter of the Southern Colorado Drupal Users Group.
We will be celebrating the release of Drupal 7. Cake, balloons, the whole enchilada. If you know anyone in the media, this might be something to cover. As a group, we will share the best new features in Drupal 7.
Then, Caleb Thorne and Bryan Jones will give a module development presentation, of course, emphasizing Drupal 7.
If time allows, Rick Nashleanas will share the best on-site SEO (Search Engine Optimization) tips and tricks.
As school is not in session, we cannot have our meeting at UCCS in January. Instead, we'll be meeting at the community room at the Panera Bread on North Academy: 7344 North Academy - http://bit.ly/hXm1F4 . The group needs to spend $25 to allow us to use the room for free. Our February meeting will be back at UCCS.
The meeting starts at 7pm, but everybody tends to gather at 6:30. Panera closes at 9 pm, so we won't be able to linger there very long.

Wow - just realized my
Wow - just realized my subscriptions are pretty broken on g.d.o - and I've missed some meet-ups :( Well, I'll be at the release party! Let me know if there is anything I can do to help out!
Cake, Streamers, Balloons, Banners... the Media?
I'm going to bring a Drupal 7 cake. Panera doesn't sell cake, so they're OK with us bringing that in.
If anyone would like to bring other decorations, please let me know and I won't get them.
I would love to have this covered by the media, so if anyone know someone who will cover it.
Bring your cameras and we can post pictures.

What about alcohol? 7&7? ;)
What about alcohol? 7&7? ;) Or will we have to have an 'after-party' as well? LOL
Panera
Panera won't let us bring in alcohol. They close by 9 pm. So an after-party is in order.
At UCCS, we can bring in alcohol, but we have to pay for one of their security officers to be there on site and fill out a bunch of paperwork.

So I just realized this in on
So I just realized this in on the 4th - when worldwide these are on the 7th... is that correct?
2 Parties are better than one
You are correct. The benefit of having this on the 4th is that we can join in the Denver fun on the 7th.
I'm all for after party beers if anyone else wants to go.
Party Photos!
Thanks to everyone who helped make the release party fun and informative.
