User group meeting

The first SWDUG meetup of 2011. Ideas for topics here please :)

I'm thinking we should do what we talked about previously - a "Bring a problem and we'll try and solve it" kind of workshop.

Just joined and wanted to know what capacity to the meeting at this location on Jan 11th 6pm?
When might it be maxed out?

It hasn't been maxed out yet,

instanceofjamie's picture

It hasn't been maxed out yet, but I'd say we can comfortably have 15-20 people. But! We do need to know in advance if the food order is going to work - we need to order the pizza beforehand.

Hopefully see you there?

Jaywilliams We have to be

Jaywilliams We have to be reasonable due to the size of the room and the food order etc, how many were you thinking and we can then tell you if its ok or not.

There's lots of talk of Drupal 7 partying in January, do we want to make the first SWDUG of 2011 a celebration for D7? Including demos etc maybe? Just an idea! :)

Hi all, Unfortunately,

jonthomas83's picture

Hi all,

Unfortunately, something has come up this morning which means that I'll have to miss the meet-up this evening, I apologise sincerely as I hate missing my appointments.

Also I wanted to just check...all talk has gone pretty quiet over the past couple of months (which is fair since we had Christmas), but I just wanted to say I'm fully behind this user group and would like to think that there's still a future in it. Judging by the little take up we've had on the "sign-ups" and comments on this thread, I'm guessing interest could have died down a little.

I think that we may need to assess if people are still interested and committed to making this work. From what I sensed, the first two meet-ups were a great success, thanks largely to the attendance of people who said they'd attend, not forgetting the hospitality of subhub.

So I'll leave the ball in your court guys (and gals?!), if you want it, let us know!

Cheers,
Jonathan

Doh! Well that sucks. I'm

Doh! Well that sucks.

I'm still planning on being there, as long as anyone else is coming. Maybe for Feb we should do a better job at putting the word out there.

So who is coming? If there's still anyone at all, I'll get pizza ordered today. If not, well, maybe we'll just have to see you all next time.

Certainly does suck, I always

Certainly does suck, I always look forward to it, plus I've got a few projects I'm doing that I could talk about too! :(

Oh well, can't be helped I guess, best of luck with it tonight and I'll see you all at the next one. Yeah, for February we'll definitely have to plug it more! :)

I'm wondering if it's best to

I'm wondering if it's best to just wait til February to do the next one.

If anyone is still thinking of coming - please please reply here soon! If there's still a substantial amount of people out there that haven't signed up or commented, we need to know about you! I've no idea how many takers there were for pizza, etc.

I'll make sure we get the word out properly for next month, though. And commit to Tuesday Feb 8th.

Does that sound like a better plan?

@mike dodd & jaywilliams - sorry about this, we're usually a bit better organised. I'll make sure I do better next month!

Don't cancel yet! I'd be up

I'd be up for a meet tonight if there's any interest.

Okay! I guess that makes us

Okay! I guess that makes us officially back on for a meetup!

Any other takers? Should probably order Pizza by 4pm to make sure it gets to us at a decent time. Dave, are you bringing anyone?

I tend to slink off early - a bit after 8.30, but other folks usually disappear around 9ish. I suspect if you're arriving late, there's going to be a burst of activity from the inquisitive ;-)
