community of artists in drupal

Hi all;

I've got a project in hands, some kind of meeting point for artists with the following features:

• artists are invited for free to showcase their work online. styles include painting , drawing, illustration , sculpture photography, animation, short films.

• showcasing their work, news & press releases on our website. Artists will have an extensive portfolio as well as information about themselves incl. interviews,mission statement, exhibition history, bio, video documentation, works for sale, awards, published works & press.

I've used Drupal in some other projects, although i'm not experienced enough, but I thought in using it for this one at once

I've pointed out some ideas reading previous post of this discussion group(Thanks everybody) mainly the relative to cck and views, my main doubt comes trying to spot the project having several(or a lot) artists and letting them having their own space or microsite, something like, misite.com/artist .

I also have some doubts about how to categorize artists by continent, country, city, etc...,

Could anybody give an advice?
