We're a 33-branch public library in Ottawa gradually getting up to speed on Drupal. (Extremely early sandbox stage, let's say.) We have a pressing, and as yet unmet, need for handling event registrations at all of those branches. Our requirements include, among other things, allowing signups for a recurring class with multiple dates (i.e. one registration for all sessions), adding a waiting list, being able to globally start all registrations on a specific date, and being able to cancel a session and send an email to all participants. From looking at the Event Manager and Signup modules (are there others?), we would need to undertake, or commission, a wholesale rewrite of those modules to get what we need.
Event management is an important item for many libraries. Has anyone implemented event management specifically for libraries in Drupal using one of these modules or another? Is anyone out there thinking along a similar line? Can you share the requirements you've met with code, or that you have and, like us, haven't met yet?
Many thanks,
Devin Crawley

There are other modules:
There are other modules: Event, Event Repeat, CCK + Date + Calendar. Probably more than this, too.
Seeing your requirements I would recommend starting with CCK + Date + Calendar and, working from that, trying to build an integrated solution that meets your needs first, rather than cobbling together other existing modules. (None of those I've used seem up to the task yet...)
One group you might consult with is OpenConcept (http://openconcept.ca/), an Ottawa business that specializes in Drupal development. I've looked at their online resources and had a little bit of email interaction with them. Beyond that I don't have experience with them, so can't say for sure whether they would be the outfit for this. But they are local to your area and it may help your planning to have some face-time to discuss options for moving forward.
