Rich snippets (micro formats, micro data and RDF)

We encourage users to post events happening in the community to the community events group on https://www.drupal.org.

Hi all,

I am wondering if someone could help me understand the benefits pros and cons of the different ways to markup the content.

Specifically I am thinking about microformats, micro data and RDF.
What is drupal view on this?

I hope that someone can point me in the right direction.

Thanks a lot

Daniel

There is support for marking

There is support for marking up content with RDFa in Drupal 7 core, while you have to use modules or custom code for microformats or micro data.

For Rich Snippets, there is an RDFa version for all of the different types, if I remember correctly, so the easiest to do is RDFa.

Are you looking for any of the Rich Snippet types in particular (i.e. Recipe, Product, etc)?

mapping properties

I see that D7 features integrated name space xmlns for RDFa mapping to popular vocabularies; however, it is unclear to me how to actually define properties for custom fields or include additional vocabularies such as good relations for ecommerce. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks! Kevin
