Hi everyone. Martin asked me to pull together the March meet-up this Thursday, but unfortunately I won't be able to attend myself.
My gut feeling is to cancel this month's meeting, unless someone else wants to jump in with a topic, and then reboot the LonDUG for the April meeting with a fresh topic and shout-out to the membership.
Thoughts and comments on this? Keen volunteers? Alternative plans?
Cheers;
Dan

The last few meetups
The last few meetups vaporised. Maybe we could reschedule the March meeting to give it a chance. I will attend whenever it is. If someone else who wants to attend would voice a preference, I think we should run with it and call it a threesome at least.
drupalcon
My team is heading to drupalcon next week and we will definitely be in to helping jumpstart LonDug for April.
May I propose our next meeting be focused...
May I propose our next meeting be focused around what we want out of the group? and what level of commitment we can offer?
Does anyone know of a group that is running a model that works successfully that we could emulate?
I like the idea of a focused planning meeting
Thanks Andrew and Martin --
I like the idea of a focused planning meeting the first Thursday in April, where we would look at what we want to do, and compare it to the volunteer energy level available.
In my case -- and many others I expect -- the key issue with organizing, or even attending, meetings is 'busyness'... I value Drupal and the community, but attend only one meeting in three or so, just due to time constraints and competing interests.
Too often this used to leave Martin sitting alone in a dark pub, watching his beer go flat!
Perhaps If there is not enough energy to hold monthly get-togethers, we could consider going virtual here on the Group site, or taking a break until September, and then starting F2F meetings again. (Why September? I dunno... back to school reflex or something... :) )
Looking forward to talking this over in the April meeting.
Cheers - Dan
Good idea
A higher level discussion about the group itself is definitely in order.
As for groups with more participation, I guess that depends on how far out you want to look geographically. I've been to meetings of the Drupal Users Groups in Toronto and Waterloo region and both are well attended (typically over 20 people and sometimes more than twice that in Toronto) and have some very good discussions. Has anyone been to one of these other groups? I know Khalid who is one of the main organizers of the Waterloo group and I'm sure I could get him to share any key learnings they've had over the years.
I find it ironic that London has so many shops using Drupal (I'd guess more than a dozen, maybe even twice that) but so few people are really interested in engaging in the Drupal community. It's a shame because the community has always been one of the key strengths of Drupal IMHO.
My perception is that in the London there are already so many groups that are more topic-based that it's harder to compete for a technology-focused group like LonDUG.
next steps
I would like to propose a meeting for the 14th of April after work - location: poachers.
Can I go ahead and create an event? we can then actively solicit participants.
LonDUG -- Thursday April 14th sounds good.
Hi Andrew --
Thursday April 14th sounds good to me!

I'm in.
I'm in.
Meeting in April?
I am moving to Woodstock area, and would like to come out to some meetings. Is this meeting going to happen?
Okay. I now have a
Okay. I now have a committment at 8 pm in London that night. So, 6ish would work for me. Still, I will do my best whatever. Can we get a confirmation on the time?
Definitely Happening
Can we say 530pm meet up, 6pm official start? I'm still working on a bar with a private room in the downtown area.
Registration Link
I'd like to get sense of the number of people we are expecting.

I'm in, see you there!
I have been a very bad boy in not attending these meetings, I'll not bore you with the details (besides this is public and they are personal) but I do intend to come to this one. I lived in KW for many a year and did attend a few of the Waterloo drugs (I know but I like that name better), I even presented once and would be happy to do so here in my hometown of London. I've done some pretty cool things with Drupal and I've been working in and with content management systems for well over a dozen years now.
I believe strongly in a phrase I learned when cutting my teeth in Comp Sci (too many years ago to admit to) "Share and Enjoy", I do hope we can make something of these meetings and I will pledge to do my best to both attend and make them worth attending.
I look forward to meeting you all, telling you (part of) my story and hearing about yours!
