Dear Vancouver Drupal peeps,
I'm looking for some server space to host a drupal site for my doctoral research project. It's currently 17.7 MB and is still under development but isn't likely to get insanely big. It will have extremely limited usage - just admins, developers, and study participants, at most 30 at a time. Only registered users will have access.
Right now this is a 100% educational, non-profit project. I need the space for a year and a half to two years. I don't need a domain hookup or anything like that. Physical server needs to be in Canada.

wouldn't the university normally provide webspace for this type of a thing?

I have web space on the university server, but it doesn't have drupal (nor do I have admin access)...
Try VCN?
If you can get the university/department to give you a mysql or pgsql database, you can do everything else by FTP and in the browser. However, if that's not an option, try the Vancouver Community Network.

SFU Servers
Hello Heidi,
I believe you are at SFU. If you are, its not too hard to get a Drupal install up and running on the SFU servers. I have done it multiple times. You will just need to put in a request for a MySQL database but this usually only takes a day tops. I can step you through some of the minor annoyances found at SFU. Thanks for the advice/suggestions. I will work on getting space at SFU and follow up on the other suggestions if that doesn't work out. Sorry to miss the group tonight - I have to get ready to leave town for the weekend.
