I'm looking with great interest at the Do it with Drupal seminar that Lullabot is organizing for December.
http://www.doitwithdrupal.com/
Is anyone else around the Sacramento/Davis area here also interested in going to this?
Otherwise, does anyone have any opinions as to how useful this seminar could be to a not-so-beginner-anymore developer like myself? I was also looking at attending Lullabot's Portland workshop, but after an email exchange with James Walker, I'm thinking I might just be a little too experienced to get my $ worth out of that workshop. This seminar looks like it could be more in-depth.
Thanks!
Shawn

I'm interested in sending some folks
Hey Shawn:
We've thinking about sponsoring and possibly sending some people. All the folks we have now in the shop probably have too much experience, but I'm interested in pulling in some new talent and using this as training (let me know if you know anyone :).
Let's chat about this at the next SacDUG.

Going to Portland
After talking with Shawn (thanks man!) and with James Walker (thanks again Shawn for the idea to email them directly) I have decided that I am headed to both Portland Workshops... and hopefully, if I find a full-time gig, or have a good client list between now and DoItWithDrupal, I hopefully can make it to both!
Anyone been to a Lullabot before... any suggestions, ideas, thoughts..... ???
THANKS!

I stumbled upon this thread and I see its quite old, but I thought I'd chime in to see if I could be of assistance.
I don't know if any of you made it to the Portland Workshop or not, or if any of you registered for DIWD. If you did go to Portland then based on your posts here, it may have been a little slower and possible more elementary than you were hoping for. DoItWithDrupal is a much more intense experience. This year I have been to 4 Lullabot workshops, DrupalCampChicago, DrupalconBoston2008, 17 of my local group meetings, 4 of other cities group meetings... You get the point. I'm a junkie and I'm loving it.
I will be at DoItWithDrupal because
a. some MAJOR players in the community will be there breaking it down for me
b. the opportunities to hang with the presenters will be exceptional
c. meeting with fellow attendees afterwords will be another opportunity to pick up more skills
d. the relationships that start at these events tend to be sustainable and mutually beneficial
I have every expectation of taking my Drupal skills to the next level. If by some strange chance one or two sessions are old-hat for me, I will more than make up for it when the next presenter challenges me.
1. Go
2. If you can, send people who would benefit from it
3. If you have yet to register, DON'T pay full price. If you use discount code = DOITWITHDOUGVANN you can save 10% off the published price.
Maybe I'll see some of you there? - DV
I'm going
I had forgotten about this post. Yes, I'm registered for DIWD, and my round-trip flight to New Orleans has been purchased. At first, I was most excited about all the Drupal sessions, but now I'm starting to get excited about all the other sessions about building successful social networks and other types of web sites. Stuff that's not necessarily Drupal-specific, but is no less essential for a successful site.
It's going to be a good time!
If people are still on the fence about going, Lullabot is offering a 25% "New President Special" for just today and tomorrow (Nov. 5-6).

If you're still thinking about attending DoItWithDrupal
Last night a user discovered that the code to get 10% off of www.doitwithdrupal.com was not working correctly.
For all you last minute shoppers out there...
The discount code DOITWITHDOUGVANN does work now. :-)
