An Introduction to Drupal render() & Content Output in Drupal 7
There's a new technique for creating, changing, and outputting HTML in Drupal 7! New are the render() function, hook_page_build, and hook_page_alter. If you're a module programmer or themer join Dale McGladdery of Agentic on Thursday April 28, 2011 at 6:30 to find out how these functions can make small HTML tweaks and major page changes much easier. Dale will take you for a short walk up the learning curve showing you the basics of these new functions. After the presentation there will be an opportunity for audience members to share their experiences.
Dale McGladderyis web developer with Agentic. He's beening working with Drupal since V4.7 and sometimes wishes there was a hook_life_alter as easy to use as hook_page_alter.
Lightning Talks
Attendees are invited to share their experience by giving a 2 to 4 minute presentation on any topic of interest to the Drupal community. If you want to use a laptop to show a website or control panel please be sure you have the necessary cable to connect to an overhead projector.

If you can't make it to the meetup, we will be live streaming and recording the event via UStream.

Join us at the pub afterwards and bring your questions on anything related to Drupal from how to do something technical in PHP to what modules are needed to implement a feature you want.

How to setup recurring billing in Ubercart
Is there interest among group members for a "lightning talk" about how to setup recurring billing in USD with Ubercart on D6? I would show things from a Canadian perspective, regarding which merchant account, bank, and payment gateway I found to be the best. This talk would also cover a couple of "gotchas" in module configuration, and show how this is all implemented on http://www.giancolianswers.com.

I would love to hear some thoughts on Ubercart vs Commerce in D7 if it was to come up.

This sounds like fun! You're suggesting a broader "start-to-finish" Ubercart setup presentation? Perhaps this conversation should be moved to the "May" meetup post, but we can copy and paste the following when you have that post ready. What is your (and others') feedback for the following proposed topics? The three main uses for Ubercart are: sell downloadable products, sell physical products, or sell site access. My experience is mainly with selling site access, and I'd be happy to share the stage with anyone who has special knowledge of the other two use cases.
Here's a list of topics I would cover, which can certainly be trimmed if some of them are too "niche":
1) Which modules to enable for selling site access
2) How to configure PayPal WPS, uc_roles, conditional actions (with a juicy gotcha regarding WPS), and cart links (ver. 6.x-2.3 for interesting reasons)
3) Create a product that sells a non-recurring expiring role, which is added to a cart using a cart link.
4) How to configure uc_recurring, which, for a Canadian merchant transacting in USD, took quite a bit of research (PayPal WPP doesn't work).
5) Create a product that sells a recurring subscription.
...6)? Depending on interest I can also share a neat facebook marketing trick.

I can't speak to either of the D7 e-commerce modules, except to say that I'm looking forward to checking out Drupal Commerce in particular, when it's ready.
in-depth case studies are
in-depth case studies are always welcome. These sound like great topics to cover. We've had some experience in this regard as well and would love to see alternative perspectives on solving similar problems.
I think it'd also be great to touch a bit on D7 commerce, if you're up for the challenge :). Even if it's just a high level overview of differences between ubercart/drupalcommerce.
