Yeah, it's me again. I think that it would be great to have a meeting of the Drupal crowd - if I could ever find them. A recent effort in locating local Drupal developers has come a lot shorter than expected. I was able to determine that WKRN seems to use Drupal on their site, and I found at least commercial one Drupal developer (he posts to these forums a fair amount), but otherwise, it seems very quiet in here. This seems a bit odd to me. I'm beginning to think that the traditional web designers are shying away from Drupal and other CMS products. Do they fear that customers will only need them once? I don't know. Maybe they just haven't ever tried or seen Drupal. Either way, I'm a little jealous of the cities that have a strong Drupal presence, since Nashville seems to be lacking. If I were an entrepreneur, I would possibly quit my day job and become one myself. I have dabbled with it, and appreciate its flexibility and strong developer following.
My theory is that web designers fear the programming aspect, and programmers fear the web design aspect. Get the two sides together, and you have a great team.
Hopefully, a Nashville Drupal meeting would be more than the two of us meeting for lunch at Taco Bell, but I'm not against that.
By the way, it's freaky how similar your face pic looks to mine. I know another guy in the IT field that looks like me too (unless you're the same guy).

Hey, thanks for the post. Sorry for the slow reply.
I would bet that there are a bit more out there using Drupal and other CMS solutions, they just don't broadcast it. Nashville being the PR machine that it is has a ton of designers and developers. Maybe we can evangelize a bit in the area and see what happens. I am currently tied into a project that is consuming all of my free time, but that will be up in the very near future (60 days or less). Once I am done or when I have some extra time on my hands, I will start putting the word out.
BTW, lunch would be great. Let me see what my schedule holds in the next two weeks, maybe we can get together. I hit the Apple store about every two weeks so maybe we can plan it around then. I am 40 min East of Nashville, but travel in on a regular basis.
BTW, are you a desginer or dev? - Myself, I dabble in both. More of a designer though I suppose.
I may just be the guy, lol. I have been an apple consultant for several years and I am currently the marketing director for a CO-OP in the sticks.
Gotta go. Will contact you soon.

I'm more of a perpetual hobbyist. I work as a system administrator for one of Uncle Sam's subsidiaries. I've been tracking Drupal for at least a year now. I'm more of a developer by nature, although I don't do a whole lot of development as part of my current job. To be honest, I enjoy development, but we don't have the time to pursue that right now. That's why I like Drupal and other CMS products.
I am working with a spare-time community organization that I belong to (a chorus), and converting their current abandoned site to Drupal. This way, the site can outlive the webmaster. The previous webmaster hasn't been participating in the group for over a year - we're all busy people, and that's just the way things go. My goal is to make it easy enough that the director and a few other people will be able to maintain the site content.
I work downtown, and I assume that the Mac Authority just down the road is the store that you frequent. Lunch or an early dinner snack would work.
By the way, I'm currently getting a "Not Authorized" error when viewing the site listed in your profile.
Hi all,
I just started using drupal for my site about 2 weeks ago. I live in Birmingham. I just signed up for the Huntsville group and would make the trek up to nashville to get to know some drupalers in the area. My background is c/c++/java. But I'm about to teach myself php. Any guesses why? Although I have done a lot with my site with out writing a lick of code. With out knowing any local talent I've put in a few requests for help but everyone I've contacted is too busy. That definetly gets my entrepenuer senses tingeling. Might be time to move away from J2EE consulting and put out a shingle doing php/drupal.
I would definetly make it to a weekend meetup and with enough notice (2 weeks) I'd make it to a weekday meeting.
