The first of hopefully many regular meetups for Drupal users in and around Bristol.

SiftGroups will be hosting with plans to kick off around 6pm and run until around 9pm, carrying on in the pub if necessary. We'll sort out some food options and beer once we know numbers.

For the first session we'll keep it fairly loose, intros and stuff and try to get idea of what we can get out of regular meetups. Knowledge sharing, regular presentations/speakers, plans for DrupalCon London etc.

We need to know numbers and (names for security people downstairs) so if you're planning to come please use the signup facility to let us know.

Look forward to seeing/meeting a bunch of you on the 19th.

Can these events get posted in the United Kingdom group additionally please, that way we can get a feed of all the Drupal events in the UK. I might have attended if I'd have know about this event.

A big thanks to all for coming last night, was good to see some familiar faces and meet some new people in the local Drupal community. Hopefully we can get 30 people together regularly.

Some of the key things people felt they could get out of or would like for regular sessions were:

  • Group problem solving/open forum QA
  • Learning Drupal 7
  • Performance/optimisation advice
  • Freelancer networking/collaboration opportunities
  • Socialising
  • A mixture of social/formal

Based on this we're thinking the next session should be more structured with some presentations, a QA/problem solving session and then finishing in a pub.

Suggesting Wednesday 25th May as a date so as not to conflict with other local meetups in Cardiff/Cheltenham.

Suggested format:
6pm - 7pm - 2 or 3 presentations - thinking 15-20 minutes each
7pm - 7.30 - Problem solving potentially in groups with shared interests.
7.30 - onward - head to pub/bar and continue chat.

SiftGroups can host again, its a convenient venue and we all know where it is but if anyone else can host next month then please do and feel free to take ownership of the format.

Mike - you mentioned Proctors might be able to host.

Bristol University have also offered to host, so potentially the July meetup could be there. We have a plan for June - details to be posted soon.
