Getting Started (Newbie Alert)

Hey guys, hopefully ok to post this here.

I'm new to the forum and new to Drupal and hoping to get to know a couple things from the Bay Area group here. I'm in charge of the MotherJones.com website, which we're redoing in Drupal with the help of a great firm called EchoDitto.

We're eager to learn as we go and I'd love to know if you guys can recommend some beginner level groups or events that are taking place around SF. We also may need some short term help around here as we roll out this new site (especially folks with experience migrating an old, cobwebby, badly coded site to a spanking new drupal one). Looks like Dupal Camp is in LA, anything happening up here in the near future?
