Topic: We are looking for speakers to talk about Drupal 6. Is it stable enough to use for new commercial projects? Views 2 is in Release Candidate status. What does this mean? What are the advantages and disadvantages of upgrading to Drupal 6? Is there a User Manual available for users for Drupal 6?
These are some of the questions that I have about Drupal 6 and I hope to find some answers here.
If you have questions, send them to me at katy@seascapewebdesign.com

We will also have time for people to share what they learned at Drupal Camp Victoria.

Go to our meetup page to RSVP and let us know that you are coming.

We look forward to seeing you soon.

Drupal 6 Manual

Katy:

Regarding the manual, the second edition of Pro Drupal Development came out recently: http://www.amazon.com/o/ASIN/1430209895
There's only one review of the second edition that I know of at http://11heavens.com/A-brick-came-into-the-mail-yesterday. The first edition was well received and the second edition adds a lot of material. This review focuses mostly on its shortcomings.

Thanks for the tip, Scott

Hi Scott,

Thanks for the tip. I was actually talking about a Drupal 6 version of the End User manual - an update to the one that Ariane has so graciously provided for us. Is an update needed? Is Drupal 6 that much different to use for the End User? These are some of the questions I have about Drupal 6.

The Pro Drupal Development book seems great for hard core programmers but it's all Greek to me. I come from more of a web designer perspective. We need a Drupal development book for designers. Lullabot is coming out with a recipe style book called Drupal Jumpstart this Fall. I'm looking forward to that.

See you all at Drupal Camp Victoria!

Thanks Katy. I realized you were looking for the user perspecitve just after pulling the trigger. I haven't seen one yet. But it would be welcome. From both the user and the programming side, D6 is a big improvement.

Love your new mydrupal.ca website, BTW. Great job.

katy5289's picture

We haven't found a speaker yet, so we're going to change the format a bit and have a panel discussion or debate on
The Pros and Cons of using Drupal 6.

Come prepared to argue for or against using Drupal 6 to build websites.

See you on Sept. 11th at the Surrey Drupal Users Group!
