Drupal groups - how to remain member and post discussions but don't want discussions posted to my email

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

How can I remain a member of groups but without having to receive an email for each discussion posted? I can't find anything in the settings to stop receiving emails.

Notifications settings are under "My Account"

Log into groups.drupal.org, click on "My Account", click on "Notifications", and then the "Subscriptions" sub-tab

And then do what?

And then do what? I don't think it's in subscriptions - these refer to specific posts I have made, not in general about whether or not I want to generally receive emails about NEW discussions - I can only stop existing discussions here - it lists those existing ones but says nothing about stopping emails for new discussions.

I went in http://groups.drupal.org/user/27123/edit to edit my notifications settings and unchecked "auto-subscribe" in the "Messaging and Notifications settings" area.

It would be nice if Drupal could be a bit more specific about functionality rather than using far too generic terms: "subscriptions", "notifications". Why not just be totally direct and have a check box: "Recieve discussions in email".

Notifications can send messages other ways as well. I don't think g.d.o is configured for others but the module it uses is capable of it. So that label would be too specific.

It doesn't stop groups.drupal.org from sending me new discussions.

I've even just received email about my own discussion. FFS!

Any regular forum would provide for simple on/off email notification, but no, Drupal has to dance around the subject offering settings that seem like what you want but are not, or that work in some obfuscated way with other settings.

Hi, Sorry it's a confusing

Hi,

Sorry it's a confusing interface. The modules used on this site are well known and you are welcome to help improve them.

FFS!

Using acronym/language like that combined with your attitude is a great way to frustrate other users of the site. If you do that enough your account will be blocked.

Please see the Drupal Code of Conduct.

That's another setting

Defaults are under user preferences. Again under "My Account" click the "Edit" tab, and scroll down to "Messaging and Notifications Settings". There you can turn off the defaults for autosubscribe and group notifications.

No question, this is a user experience mess. The standard answer would be if you don't like it, fix it, and post your contribution back to the community!

just login to your account
