I say no; they seem spammy and irrelevant. Thoughts? Can we disable the "Create Job" option for the group entirely? Should we delete the job postings that are already up here?

I would suggest we (the group admins) be ruthless about editing inappropriate job posts and removing this group from the audience.
There might be the odd posting that is really incredibly relevant to the group, so I'd hate to limit that.
And to walk the walk, I'll go do that for the job that was recently posted here. ;)

Removed 2 job posts from the group and added a line at the bottom of the group desc "**Please refrain from posting jobs to this group unless they are extremely in line with the topic of Diversity and Outreach."

You can set the group homepage to display only content not of the type "jobs". On the group custom homepage, edit content, then add "og_content_list" and choose the display "Not jobs."

I don't think those kinds of blocks work together in the panels layout/css that is on g.d.o - https://skitch.com/arianek/r6dkq/test-groups.drupal.org (13" screen). But the text is good in the shortened block.
As far as the "don't post jobs" I still don't think that should be an absolute - there might be the odd job that is very on topic to the group, and I'd hate to lose those just because of irresponsible cross-posters. Can we instead say something like "Only jobs targeted towards people interested in Diversity and Outreach may be posted here, all others will be removed from the group immediately."
