Yeah I thought about it too. On meetup.com it says about 42 interested people last I remember. That is combining Web Development, Joomla, CMS and some other keywords of course, but we can brainwash them mwuahaha
Well, that is 3 of us. Which is a group :) I'd say lets do it! I wonder if we should create a Drupal Group more specific to this area? We could call it Springfield Area, but perhaps we should do Greater Ozarks or Southwest Missouri or something to that effect? Thoughts?
They have a building now for the CoWorking project. We are occupying it July 1st, but still need to get a bunch of furniture.
To quote him:
We are hoping that someone knows of a bank or large organization that is closing down an office or refreshing their furniture, so we can buy some good quality furniture on the cheap.
The plan was several desk spaces, a kitchen w/ free coffee, fiber internet, 1-2 conference / podcasting rooms and some other features. I haven't talked to him much since the lease to see if this building fit all the original requirements but I'm hoping it does.
I am getting a spot so if you don't already have an office I hope to see you soon!

ensign: I had a name at one point, I was literally on the purchase button on meetup.com (I assume that's what you are referring to?) but I can't remember the name now.
I do have a great tip though (if you are using meetup.com), go all the way through the meetup.com signup procedure until you are at the purchase screen, then STOP. Let it sit for 1 day. The next day they will send u an offer to make the group for 50% off :)
Well, I was thinking about a separate group here on Groups.Drupal.org- more specific than just Missouri. But maybe we should hold off before requesting a new group be created, and use this group for now.
Meetup might be a good idea to get the word out, though.
What would be a good time to meet? Place? Any ideas?
I agree with sticking to Missouri group for now.
You read my mind about the conference rooms @ creative foundry. Once I talk to them again and find out the details (whether i have to rent the room or if I get xx hours / month with it) I'll know if it is a possible place.
Lets do this before the idea dries up. I think any place would do fine for just 3 of us. I'm free this week, Wednesday through Saturday (7/13 - 7/16) except 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM Thursday. If that's no good, lets set something up for the future.
Update on CoWorking place: It's ours, but we're waiting on the Landlord to get some cleaning / other touch ups done before he releases it. I was told that we might be in there by the end of next week (7/22).
I would like to get something scheduled- I am out of twon all this week. Will be bac Saturday, so anytime next week is good. I like the downtown Park Central Library- or we could meet at the Coffe Ethic or somewhere else.
I'm available most days other than Tuesdays. Pick a nice cool place. It's freakin hot!! I don't spend alot of time downtown, but I'm willing to meet anywhere.
Wednesday is fine- the only thing I have on Wed is between 2-3:30, so as long as it isn't in that time range, it works well for me. Lunch is fine, or we could do an evening thing at 6:00 if that works better?
What ever happened to this group? I am actually a Joomla! developer, but there aren't any Joomla! user groups that I can find in the area. So I thought I would hook up with you guys.
We've had regular meetups since our first one, and have grown to around 7 or 8 members.
We meet the first Thursday of every month, which puts the next one @ May 4th.
Recently, we've started trying to structure the meetings around a topic but there is still a lot of general chatter / meet & greet.
We created an Open Atrium site to better manage our discussions & events, you should be able to register @ http://springfielddrupal.com to get in on the deeper discussions.
