The process for moderating groups, leaves a lot to be desired. Excited new users are getting cryptic messages, without much recourse. We can do better.
Here's a typical explanation: "Note:this does not meet the group guidelines" and then points to http://groups.drupal.org/node/add/og
This process needs a friendly a welcoming touch. How about some fun quotes. I've recently been using
"Brick walls are there for a reason. They let us prove how badly we want things." http://37days.typepad.com/37days/2007/09/be-thankful-for.html
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.” - http://thinkexist.com/quotation/never_doubt_that_a_small_group_of_though...
“We must become the change we want to see.” http://thinkexist.com/quotation/we_must_become_the_change_we_want_to_see...
I'd also like to see better messages to encourage people to keep active in http://groups.drupal.org

Comments
And what about
And what about the groups that were accepted and then deleted. I created a group, the group was accepted and active with comments on the initial post even, and for some reason was deleted. The group name was Data Mapping and the first post was a white boarding discussion. I was a little PO when I discovered the group didn't exist any longer.
I like this idea
Seems great. There's a lot of friction right now around creating/approving/removing groups. Some stock responses would hopefully help to improve that interaction.
I posted a meta thread covering this idea and others to improve the workflow. There is also an issue to add this feature to modr8 but we can use a wiki page full of responses to copy/paste until that feature lands.
I started a wiki of proposed messages - Be bold, edit away!
