Hi!
My name is Jee and I live and work in Southeast Kansas. Not exactly a hotbed of technology...

I started this group in hopes of meeting other people in my geographical area. For those of you familiar with this particular little spot of heaven, you know that all the urban centers (Wichita, Tulsa, Joplin, Emporia, Topeka, etc) that might support a drupal group are at least a 90 minute drive away!

So, about me: I have been developing websites professionally since 1998 and have been working with Drupal full-time professionally since 2008. I am looking forward to getting to know the rest of you. I don't have specific plans for this group beyond locating others in the area.

Does anyone else have ideas for it?

Nice to meet you all!

Howdy,

I'm from Springfield, MO- my name is James. Good to meet you!

I don't really have any ideas for the group right now, but thought it would be good to get in touch with"local" drupalers!

The 3rd degree??

Great to meet you James!

How long have you been working with Drupal? Are you lucky enough to work with it professionally? How far is Springfield from Pittsburg, KS?

Would you (and/or anyone else in the group) be interested in scheduling group meetups for social/education/professional purposes? Or would we all prefer to just have discussions here for the time being?

I am currently working heavily with Organic Groups, roles, permissions and Views. We will be starting a D7 upgrade soon as well for a very large site.

What areas of Drupal are of interest to you right now?

Don't mean to be intrusive!

--How long have you been working with Drupal?

A couple of years

--Are you lucky enough to work with it professionally?

Yes!

--How far is Springfield from Pittsburg, KS?

93.4 miles- about 2 hour drive (According to Google, but I usually beat them)

--Would you (and/or anyone else in the group) be interested in scheduling group meetups for social/education/professional purposes?

Yes, I have been thinking about gauging interest in a Drupal group for Springfield/Great Ozarks area- of course anyone would be welcome to come. I might be able to travel to other places, if there was a group meeting there (Joplin perhaps, once they get things cleaned up.)

--Or would we all prefer to just have discussions here for the time being?

Discussion here is good to include everyone, but meeting in person would be nice, if possible. Another option might be a Skyoe video conference...

Haven't worked much with OG, but I have worked with roles, permissions and views. I have worked on several Drupal 7 sites, and I want to move some of my old customer sites to Drupal 7 at some point in the near future.

What areas of Drupal are of interest to you right now?

I am currently learning Aegir, as I have a great deal of interest in hosting and infrastructure. I also plan on building platforms that can be sold as SaaS solutions. I am also very interested in Drupal Commerce and the RedHen CRM projects, and similar project management modules.

We are a drupal house in Fort Smith

would love to see a meet-up in the area.

Joplin as a possible meetup?

@tomkirkham: I am not familiar with Bella Vista, but I can find Joplin. Does anyone know of a particularly good meeting place there?

@ensignavenger: Sorry for the delayed response. Work is crazy right now. We are starting to get excited about Drupal Commerce here as well since we are currently PayPal/Ubercart and that is less than optimal.
