Hi, I have this module running on my site (www.yeawo.com) and I haven't had any problems with it. But, I would like to switch to drupal forum from phpbb. Are there instructions anywhere on how to completely uninstall this module ?

If I just disable the module

If I just disable the module will that be enough or is there some other way to uninstall a drupal module ? After uninstalling this module I was thinking of using the phpbb2drupal Module. Since the users are already registered in drupal as well as phpbb I don't need to import the users, right ?? I will however need to import the categories, forum topics, posts, private messages etc. I would really appreciate any help with this.

I think...

I think your best method will be to do something along these lines:

  1. First thing: BACK UP your site prior to any major changes, such as this.
  2. Install (if you're talking about an additional forum module) and/or enable whatever new forum module you want to use - Core and/or add-on.
  3. Install phpbb2drupal
  4. Do whatever is required in that last module to transfer users, etc.
  5. Disable the old forum module
  6. Test to be sure everything is working.
  7. Remove any table instances of the old drupal module - not sure if there is any automatic way to do this, or whether you have to go and write your own SQL code in phpMyAdmin or however you get to your database(s).
  8. Delete the old forum module folder
  9. Run yoursiteaddress/update.php
  10. Check to be sure everything is working correcly
  11. You should be done other than editing your new forum.

At least, I would THINK it would work like that or very closely. I've not even built a forum in drupal yet, but I do plan on doing so eventually. If for no other reason, just to tinker with that portion. ;0)

I hope this ends up being helpful, but as I said, I've not done it so, I can't speak from experience. It just seems logical, with the way Drupal seems to work (so far in my probably now near 3 months experience, I guess).

Thanks for writing things

Thanks for writing things down. I just didn't want to mess things up before asking for help.
