Starting a South Bay Drupal Users Group

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Tao had said there was interest in starting a South Bay Drupal Users Group. I'm interested and wondered if anyone else would like to work on this.

I recall some interest

I recall some interest recently... I'm down in LA, but you might want to check out this thread http://groups.drupal.org/node/13580. I think there's also a San Jose -ish group - but I don't have any specifics on that... contacting a few people in the SC thread might help point you the right direction.

Also, keep in mind the time of year as we near the holiday season, it can be difficult to get people to come out for meetings in Nov and Dec if they are planned late in the month.

South Bay Drupal Meetup Group

mwdonnelly's picture

There is a Meetup Group for South Bay Drupal users, but since I joined the group, there has not been a meetup scheduled.

It looks like they had meetups in June and July, but none since. It might make sense to have the group on Drupal.Org to make it easier for Drupal users to find it...just my $.02!

There is a Drupallers group at Stanford Open Source Lab - http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/group.php?gid=34251331125
The group does not have regularly scheduled meetings, but we plan to begin those someday.

we're a do-ocracy

open source is based on "do-ocracy." so i vote "do-it." create the group. promote it in gdo (and perhaps elsewhere, such as meetup.org, upcoming, facebook, local colleges and cafe's etc). you'll be amazed how many people will come out of the woodwork to help.

in no time you'll have members in the group. then schedule a first meeting and find a venue for it. its both fun and educational. and as always,,, post or jump in IRC when you need help. good luck!

South Bay DRUPAL group

Hi Michael, Mike,

Please have the interested people join the group at http://www.meetup.com/DrupalGroup/
This is a South Bay Drupal group and we have had some very enthusiastic people come in our past meetings.

Next meeting is yet to be scheduled but should be in early November.

Avi

Already have a group?

mike stewart's picture

Hey Avi!

I didn't realize you already had a group. Why not a group on GDO? IMHO, I think more people would find you - more easily.

Also, can we have a monthly meeting in South Bay? I can try to arrange place in Plug N Play at Sunnyvale. Can we do first Monday of each month starting Nov 3rd?

I also agree, the meet-up folks should at least cross post over here, it just makes sense.
I am up for getting together for sure. Downtown Sunnyvale is a few steps from the cal-train, and there are some decent coffeeshops and a kick ass brewery with award winning beer there that would probably accommodate us. Mission City Roasters in Santa Clara has a great space with lots of tables too.
