I am planning a website for events and local listings.
Can someone help by providing the list of modules which should be used.
Or, if someone can offer services to develop the complete portal, please get in touch.
Looking to have functions like eventful.com (i guess its also based on drupal)

Have you had much success with the site?
I assume events and calendar are modules that can be used. I've tried using events before but the input form seems to requires a lot more tuning to be more user friendly.
For the most basic event site, a blog with a mailing list should suffice.
http://eventful.com/ seems to be more advanced though.
