Drupal Gardens for a University Website

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

I'm interested in getting feedback on the pros/cons of using the enterprise version of Drupal Gardens to develop a university website. Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I guess it depends on your needs. You won't be able to use any modules that Drupal Gardens doesn't offer. The worst right now (in my opinion) is the lack of date/calendar functionality. You also won't be able to create a true custom theme - just customize an existing one with CSS.

Drupal Gardens is very convenient though, so if it's a small site that doesn't need a whole lot of functionality or customization, it could be a valid option.

Support for custom date types should be out in a week or so. We are adding many features all the time - and if you ever run into a roadblock, you can always export your site.
re: custom themes there are very few designs that can't be created with Drupal Gardens' ThemeBuilder and CSS.
For enterprise customers we can add custom modules too.
