Drupal Noob Workshop

Hi Lidiya,

You've come to the right place to learn about Drupal. We've got an active local community that's welcoming to newcomers and eager to help people get up to speed. Signing up for an account here at http://groups.drupal.org/twin-cities is a great way to stay on top of all of that.

There are usually two monthly meetings that cover a specific Drupal-related topic. On the Third Wednesdays, there's Drupal and E-commerce group that discusses topics related to commerce, übercart, and store management with Drupal. On the Fourth Wednesday of each month, there's a meeting that focuses on a more general Drupal topic. Last, there's a 4th Thursday meeting that's all about writin' code.

Each of these gatherings is pretty informal and inclusive, so don't be afraid to show up and get your feet wet. There's yet another meet-up with no agenda at all beyond drinking beer and socializing. Meet us on the patio of the Blue Nile on first Thursday of each month for a Drupal Happy Hour! These meetings can some times feel like a little much if you haven't got the basic foundations (except for the happy hour one - those are mostly waaayyy off topic!).

Fortunately, you've got even more options! My company, Advantage Labs, has built our business around supporting local Drupal folks of every skill level. In addition to buying pizza and keeping the lights on for many of these community events, we provide a number of free and cost-efficient training and knowledge-transfer options for individuals, organizations and Drupal shops. My colleague Barry Madore regularly runs a free Intro to Drupal workshop, which provides a good overview of how to get off on the right foot with Drupal. We're also ramping up our formal training agenda this Fall, so be on the lookout!
