At the last Bham Drupal meeting, I had a little conversation with one of the attendees (hi Fred!) about what niches there are in the Drupal community that have lots of opportunities in them.
And now I've stumbled upon a blog post at cyrve (yes, the small Drupal data migration company just acquired by Acquia) about just this very thing, so I thought I'd share it:
If you're involved with Drupal as a consultant, there are some very good thoughts here about positioning yourself uniquely based on your background, your interests, and your skills. Specializing in a niche of the Drupal world is a very good strategy for finding unique opportunities to shine, especially worth thinking about if you are trying to build a business in a small town like Bham where there might not be a lot of local opportunities.
