Can Drupal IP authenticate users? I'm looking to use Drupal in a law library setting. We have several subscriptions that are IP authenticated so you do not have to enter a user name or password.
Thaks for any tips or suggestions,
John

IP Authentication
Thanks Greggles. I wonder if these can be used to authenticate a group either anonymous or authenticated users. I'm new to Drupal so I don't know how all this stuff works. What I need to do is to IP Authenticate all users in several branch offices. We utilize this method with our current OPAC. We have static IP addys assigned to each office through which they access the Internet. We also subscribe to numerous online subscriptions, most of which are IP authenticated.
Can these modules be used to authenticate an office IP where there will be dozens or more users? Like I mentioned before, I'm not versed on all the ins and outs of Drupal, so this may not even be possible.
Thanks for the links,
John
The best way to see if they will work for you
is to test them in context. It is also the fastest way.
While it is preferable to do this on a development instance of your site, if that is not an option, backup your database, install all three modules and test them one at a time. if one does not work, uninstall it (if that is an option) before moving to the next.

Can't Test the site until I have one
Thanks for the suggestion Cary. I'm at the info gathering point right now. I just need to see if Drupal has Modules that can handle everything that will be thrown at it.
A more direct questions seems to be in order. Can an entire office of users be considered as a single user so they can view the Library Catalog?
Sure
There is no limit on the number of users that can share an account. Account 0 is shared by all anonymous users, for example.
If you have a computer, you can set up a local drupal instance pretty easily. I have used XAMPP (and MAMP) to put Drupal on lab computers for classes and I use MAMP on my laptop. It is a lot easier to see how things work in practice.
