DrupalMentor Open Work Session

We encourage users to post events happening in the community to the community events group on https://www.drupal.org.

Start:
2006-11-06 18:00 - 21:00 US/Pacific

This is our second open work night. The idea is for people to:

  • Gather in a relaxed, open space that offers food, coffee and alcohol.
  • Share ideas and solutions about Drupal in general.
  • Work on your own Drupal site and possibly get specific challenges resolved.
  • Or even just sit back and absorb.

This is open to everyone, but geared for people who do not know code, and are users / basic maintainers. You don't need to bring a laptop, but if you have one, you can probably play a bit with some of the things we're working on.

Besides just a general open-work time, we'll spend a little time taking a more in-depth look at CCK in Drupal 4.7. (Which means - uh - does anyone who knows about CCK and 4.7 wanna come and show us? ;-))

RSVP encouraged - just so we have an idea of how many folks might come.

(note: they don't have a very robust connection. Don't plan on big up/downloads)

Drupal and CiviCRM ...

lobo's picture

if there are folks who are interested in learning / modifying / customizing CiviCRM to their needs, let us know and we'll show up for this event :) Might be a good place to hook up and exchange ideas on how we could make CiviCRM and our Drupal integration even better, or have a short training session on CiviCRm etc ..:)

if things continue at our current rate, we might even be able to offer a detailed overview of all the improved functionality in v1.6 :)

Yezno?

I think that's a great idea - but let's see if anyone else but me thinks so. ;-) It might be best for the next one, once we're past CCK and get a little momentum?

Can't make it. Is there any interest or enough people in the san jose area that we could do one of these down this way one evening? This is exactly what I've been interested in attending. I'd be willing to seek out a venue, even buy a round of coffee for all you folk more knowledgable than I.

I think that the human interaction and display in community settings like this sort of thing is what will make communications and management systems like Drupal, take off!
Cheers!

Yes, I am down in San Jose.

Yes, I am down in San Jose. Getting up to SF can be a pain for us South Bay dwellers.

I live in San Jose too, and if y'all can make it down here one of these days, I might even be able to borrow a training room with 10+ PCs. Maybe you City folk can ride the bullet down, and we Valley people can shuttle you from & to the train.

SJ - you're on

So there's nothing stopping you from organizing an SJ event - this is all self-organizing. ;-) In fact, it sounds like you might even have a room. And if you schedule it end of Nov, beginning of Dec on a Tues or Thurs, heck I'll even commit to coming down. Not that I know much, but I can point you to some others if that works...

In the meantime, check out WebMonday in Palo Alto, on Nov 6th.

If you go, make sure to invite Tim Bonneman (http://www.plansphere.com/blog/) to the SJ DrupalMentor meetup!

In person this time. ;) I've used CCK for a couple of projects, and can show the group how and why we used it.
