User group meeting
Setting the date for an Iowa City meeting. Everyone is welcome.
This meeting I'd like to talk about "User Training 101". Once the site hand-off occurs, many users just don't know where to start.
- What resources are available to train users in the Drupal interface?
- What methods have people found to be best to train users (one-on-one, videos, document)?
Note:
- If you have an alternate day/time you would like to meet, shout it out.
- If 2 or less people sign up (not including myself), we will not meet.

Meeting
Excited to meet a few more local drupal developers! We run drupal for our endurance / triathlon club website (http://iaheat.org/) and have a few custom modules in place to perform some of the extra functionality we need. I'm interested to see what else everyone is utilizing Drupal for.
What types of topics get discussed at these meetings?
Pretty much anything
Most of the time the topics are geared toward developers. That's not intentional by any means, but I'm a developer by trade so it tends to flow that way. I think we're all open to most any topic though. Feel free to submit ideas.
I've updated the agenda for this meeting to talk about user training and the various ways to go about that.
Thanks for joining and look forward to meeting you!
No Can Do
I would like to see what others suggest in regards to this topic, but I already have another event that I have to attend on this date.

I have let the UI Drupal Users Listserv know this is happening. Hopefully you'll get some more signups.
Thanks Jarod
Thanks for the heads-up on the change in meeting date. I actually have another conflict with this coming Tuesday (same as last week) but I'm going to push it aside for this meeting! So, if the weather isn't terrible (thus far, chance of snow Tuesday evening) I will be there.

Great Meeting
Thanks for everyone who attended!!! We had a great turnout and good participation.
Based on some of the discussions we had, I tried something out. Here's a sample of reading a PDF directly in a web page. no need to download or open in a separate tab.
http://www.drinkyourdrupal.com/content/check-drupal-6-status
The code to do it:
<embed height="375" src="http://www.drinkyourdrupal.com/sites/default/files/Check%20Drupal%20Status.pdf" width="500">Awesome...and So Simple
Thanks for sharing...and for organizing the meeting too.
My users are not going to have the ability to embed in this manner...but a module/content type to control this and give them the ability is probably worth doing! Thanks.
