Designing Websites with open source Drupal

frazras's picture

In this session we will be using the Drupal CMS to build out from scratch a clone of the Jamaica Gleaner Website http://jamaica-gleaner.com/
Drupal is open source software maintained and developed by a community of 630,000+ users and developers. It's distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public License (or "GPL"), which means anyone is free to download it and share it with others. This open development model means that people are constantly working to make sure Drupal is a cutting-edge platform that supports the latest technologies that the Web has to offer. The Drupal project's principles encourage modularity, standards, collaboration, ease-of-use, and more.
The age of the Content Management System(CMS) has made it far easier for the uninitiated web developer to create their own website. CMSs have not only opened up the field to a wider sphere of users but has also placed the same tools used in the top-notch web platform implementations into the hands of the hobbyist or entry level website developer.
In our three day session we will learn all the fundamental tools necessary in a Drupal installation to build out a working clone of the jamaica Gleaner's Website. Come and learn from out expert trainers who will guide you through development every step of the way in a real hands on, practical 3-day session.

All you will need is a laptop or reasonable sized screen device (tablet) with a wireless adapter to connect to our local web server, Firefox 5, Safari 5, Chrome 13 or greater, a creative spirit and the mind to learn some of the most powerful techniques in the web development world.
