Hi Folks, been having a bit of a hard time finding a good drupal host.
For 8 years I had my own dedicated box (not VM) at the planet but finally got sick of maintaining and patching so left for a shared host. This works fine for most basic drupal sites however however a couple of the more heavy duty sites we built are having serious issues with slow sql.
I looked all over the net but nothing is popping out as a serious drupal host that is priced within reason for a single site monthly charge. Any suggestions?
Ted

Hot Drupal
While I haven't used them, I've heard nothing but good comments about Hot Drupal, http://hotdrupal.com. I've thought about using them if I ever have a site that doesn't perform well on the shared hosting accounts that I, and my clients, have hosted with Midphase, http://midphase.com.
Good luck,
Mel
eapps
You may also want to check out eapps. http://www.eapps.com/ They have a cloud based VM subscription with Drupal 7 support. I've been using eapps for a while, but only to host Java web applications. I just cut over to their cloud VM, in order to be able to get support for Drupal 7. I have yet to set up an app running drupal, but will be doing so in the near future.
Host with many options Advantage Labs
We use Advantage Labs here and its been very good for the most part. They maintain the application so patching and so forth is done by them. The basic shared hosting plan they have works for most sites, but they also have other options if needed. We are not on the shared hosting plan and have around 9 magazine websites some with domains installed. Our largest site gets around 80k in visits a month according to google but I am sure its more. They have all sorts of options and have helped me out a great deal as I didn't even know Drupal before this job. I would recommend them to anyone looking and they can do more than just host applications.
I looked in to them
and was very interested in them or Pajunas as it would be perfect to transfer not only hosting but on-going support and dev of this site to some who could do it all for this client. Unfortunately I called their numbers earlier last week and left a message saying I was interested in hosting. Haven't heard anything back yet. Would be great to be able to go local.
I believe Pajunas and
I believe Pajunas and Advantage Labs are run by the same people. They're a small shop, but do a good job with their hosting in our experience (we migrated a site to them last year, www.nylc.org). You might also try pinging Barry through the site here, username bmadore.
Yeah we keep them busy...
I am sure they have not caught up yet with everything. They were in London on a Drupalcon recently and just got back last week. They are usually very responsive though so maybe give them another call. Our site links can be found from http://tigeroak.com/our-publications as a resource of what can be hosted through them.
Happy to connect
We're here and happy to talk with anyone about our services. Thanks, Sandy for recommending us.
Regarding returning calls, we did receive your message last week and I returned it within a couple of hours leaving a message. I'm wondering if the number we have is the best one to reach you. To make sure we're making the right connection, why not send us a note via our contact form -- http://www.advantagelabs.com/contact. Leave your preferred call back number. Then we'll also have an email for you.
Hope to hear from you soon,

Great news!
Hmm, didn't see a call so not sure what happened but happy to talk. I used phone as I want to speak to a real person at a real company. I've had a few experiences lately contacting sites that look good thru forms only to find out there was only a kid behind the scenes that couldn't provide what we needed.
That said local is what I was hoping for and I have no problem with a company who's priority is on service and support over sales for sure!
Hah! that's definitely us!
We here at Advantage Labs have managed to do a lot with a little. We spend at least 50% of a given week's business hours working with our customers and the local community face-to-face. We might be meeting with our Catalyst clients for strategy and tactical meetings, making progress at Lab Hours with our Catalyst and Alliance members, providing free and paid training, or running a local meet-up.
Counter-intuitively, the fact that we spend so much time with our customers means that we're not spending a lot of time sitting by the phone. We don't have a sales staff, and there's definitely nobody here whose sole job is routing phone calls. This means that everyone you work with lives and breathes Drupal! We have systems in place to stay responsive for customers 24x7, and we'll be happy to call you if you contact us with your phone number.
Thanks to Sandy, Bill, and everyone who mentioned us. Your support is a really big deal for us!
Sounds good submitted contact form with number
I await your call thanks!

There's also us
We're a little less local (over the border and into Wisconsin) but also specialize in Drupal hosting. We're a little smaller than Advantage/Pajunas (who would also do a great job for you) and offer a number of different plans from shared up to dedicated, with different levels of support. We also contribute 5% of your hosting fees to the Drupal Association.

drupal hosting
Just wanted to add that I am an alliance member of Advantage Labs. As an alliance member, I receive not only the managed drupal hosting for my clients but also access to many benefits - listed are a few: weekly labs for help or training on issues; assistance in determining how to promote and bid drupal for a client; back end support for updates, and managed builds for my sites so all I have to do is start building and theming. I look at Advantage Labs as an important partner in my web business and I highly recommend them.
