I'm looking for a Drupal 6 video Solution. I am wondering if any of you folks have successfully implemented one. Here are some of the needs:

Uploading:
Uploading of multiple types of video.
Files of any (reasonable) length and time (can't use youtube)

Encoding and storage:
Re-encoding on the server
Can store on our own server or an external one but data costs must be reasonable.

Display:
Needs to display on MOST devices, lots of our users have ipads or iphones as a secondary device so a 'flash only' output solution will not work well.

I have tried video module and creating a video content type. That works as long as I don't want to re-encode the video on the server. Currently we are unsuccessfully experimenting with ffmpeg on our ubuntu server and I don't have a CLUE how to set up ffmpeg properly. Drupal just says I've got it wrong.

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks!

I use a product called Video Rebel http://videorebel.com/ , in conjunction with Amazon S3 and Zencoder.

It's not a module, but the output is iframed in, much like a youtube embed, except you maintain your ownership.

The costs of the S3 account and Zencoder are minimal and with the videos residing in Amazon S3 you don't have to worry about bandwidth or speed issues.

Not free, but reasonably priced, especially considering how much time it saves.

I have yet to incur any fees from Amazon s3, I'm still at the free tier, Zencoder has been about $5.
