I am incredibly passionate about this topic and would like to formally request that everyone that posts to this group stay strictly on topic. It's a broad topic so you have a lot of flexibility in what you can post about. This is not the group that should be posted to in order to find development solutions for your day to day development tasks.
Here's an overview of the topic from wikipedia: "DevOps" is an emerging set of principles, methods and practices for communication, collaboration and integration between software development (application/software engineering) and IT operations (systems administration/infrastructure) professionals. It has developed in response to the emerging understanding of the interdependence and importance of both the development and operations disciplines in meeting an organization's goal of rapidly producing software products and services.
I'd like to believe that we all have the ability to stay on topic but would also like to solicit thoughts on moderating membership to this group ... thoughts?

I agree that strict topic
I agree that strict topic adherence is key to long term health of the group. I encourage you and other managers to ruthlessly unpublish/remove off topic conversation.
I'm not a huge fan of having
I'm not a huge fan of having people apply to be a member of the group - I think that sends the wrong message.
I am a fan of removing off-topic posts, especially if it follows this process:
For nodes/comments posted only in devops:
1. Open the contact tab for the user and say "I deleted your node/comment because it was off-topic in the devops group."
2. Delete it.
For nodes posted into devops and others:
1. Just move it, and contact if the person is a repeat offender.
If you need more permissions to carry those out I'd be comfortable granting them.

Hi Greg, I can edit the nodes
Hi Greg,
I can edit the nodes but not delete them and I can not edit/delete comments. If I could get the permissions to do so, that would be great.
