I installed Drupal locally. Created my website. Set up a web server (Go Daddy) with Drupal. Have the database names and passwords the same both locally and remote. How do I post from localhost to the web server?

I live south of Nashville, just west of Columbia. Is there any training sessions that I can attend? If not is there anyone that can help me get higher on the learning curve? Willing to trade Wine for expertise.

I don't quite understand

I don't quite understand your question.

Would you like to share the remote database between your local Drupal install and the remote install?

Or do you simply want to copy your local database to the remote server? (I think this is what you mean...?)

I'm fairly well versed in relational databases (third normal form and all that stuff). I kinda understand php (a little). I do a lot of websites so I know xml, xhtml, CSS, java etc. I used WAMPSERVER 2 to install the Apache server, MySql, and php. It has a GUI interface PhpMyAdmin.

When first I started this conversation I thought I had a DB set up but was mistaken. Now I'm trying to set up a new DB with a password and am having difficulty. Sounds crazy but it's true. So here is the plan.

STEP 1; This Wednesday I have an Apache Server/MySql smart person coming to the house to help me. So I'm confident Wednesday night I will have a new DB with a password set up on my localhost Apache server.

STEP 2; My next task will be to install Drupal in the .www directory and possibly get it to see the DB I just created. (I haven't a clue but I'll try)

STEP 3; I'll create a simple website with a couple of nodes and links and stuff. (I can do this)

STEP 4: Now I'll configure my web server with Apache, php, MySql and last but not least a DB with the same name and password. (I can do this on Go Daddy)

STEP 5; Now I will try to get the web site on my "localhost" ftp'd to my web server. (I haven't a clue how to do this.) There is no documentation in the universe that tells you how.

If I successfully do all this then I think a glass of wine is in my future.

I welcome suggestions.

Technical Support Request

Mack1's picture

I am having difficulty creating Views. It keeps telling me I don't have access to the path. However that is only one of many problems.

I am looking for someone that I can hire (pay money) that can help me for 4 hours or so. There is also an opportunity for ongoing assistance in maintaining a commercial website.

I will be glad to come to your place or we can talk on the phone or we can work on my computer.

Regards,

Still need help?

Hi Gerald,

Just wondering if you still need some Drupal help. I'm in Memphis, but could probably assist over the phone, or perhaps make a trip out to your area on a Saturday sometime. Let me know if you're interested and I can give you a call.
