Library Drupal Developers: Please take this short survey for the ALA LITA Drupal Interest Group!

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

The LITA Drupal Interest Group has put together a super quick (12-question, 10-15 minutes) survey for Drupal developers who are based in, or work primarily for, library environments of all types.

We'll report the results out at the IG meeting at ALA Midwinter, Saturday, January 21st at 1:30, and also online via ALA Connect (visible to all, not just ALA members).

Thanks in advance!

Test environments

I responded to this survey, and at first I commented that I don't really know how LITA could help me contribute more code to the community. After thinking about that further, I realised that what I lack the most is technical resources. For example, easy to deploy sandboxes in which I could test code and new modules or build an environment similar to staging or production environments I'm working in. If something goes wrong, I just throw it away and start another one. I'm lacking both human and material resources to do that locally. That would be a great thing if we could offer such a service to the community.

Thanks so much for following up! I'll add your comment to the results. It's our IG's goal to support library Drupal developers at ALL levels, even though the focus of this particular survey was on contributing code back to the Drupal community.

Also, for the needs that you describe, Acquia provides a very tidy little Drupal stack called Dev Desktop that you can run on your desktop or laptop, for both Windows and OS X: http://www.acquia.com/downloads

Rachel Vacek (University of Houston) and I use this for a training environment in our ALA preconferences. Quick and easy to install, quick and easy to chuck and start over! :D

Thanks, that's great stuff. Installed for Drupal 6 in 2 minutes on my Windows 7 machine.
