It looks like various Drupal usergroups are starting something called "Coworking Fridays" where, as you may have guessed, Drupallers get together and work on Drupal stuff.
As a remote worker, this sounds really appealing to me. Anyone else interested in attending or organizing these?

I'd be interested. Pity my job isn't in Drupal. >_<
This is a phenomenal idea!!!
Sign me up for this idea!
I've been independently making a living off Drupal for the last 15 some odd months and the solitude is just such a drag. So to me I think this is a great way to counter some of the isolation lol, I'd really like to see this take form.

I would be interested in participating. Can you point us to some examples of this in action? How are these things organized?
Thanks!
I am willing, but I do not totally understand
Where will we meet and when on Friday? I surely could use some over-sight and advice to make sure my Drupal 6 Occupy Wall Street national site is the best it can be. Why doesn't someone contact me and clarify things (and let me know if you
are pro_Occupy, too)
At Boneshaker?
There's a big conference room at Boneshaker Books (behind 2nd Moon Coffeeshop at 23rd and Franklin Ave in Seward). It's free to use, and I could be there at 9 to open it up. They have free wifi and bathrooms, etc. Would that work?
I'm a volunteer there & can reserve the space for the day if people are interested.

Sounds like a nice space / idea! Won't be back to MN til the 27th, though.

I think this sounds like a good idea. I'm interested even though I don't know how often I might participate.

Let's get organized!
If this is going to gain momentum, we need to get a little organized. People have busy lives, which means they need some planning for something like this to work.
It sounds like we have people interested, so why not give it a try. Mndonx, are you willing to host the first month of Fridays? I would suggest posting each week's session as an event on the Twin Cities user group, and really encourage people to sign up if they plan on attending.
I definitely plan to attend, and can also give some support, so feel free to contact me off-line to discuss.
Yes - I've reserved the room
Yes - I've reserved the room for this week. The only Friday coming up that we can't meet there is 2/10 because it is already booked. But Boneshaker can host the next three. I'll put it on the calendar.
Anything we need that I can set up in advance? We've got plenty of power strips and there's a coffeeshop next door. I guess a head count would be nice so I can get extra tables in place, if needed.
Awesome; this Friday sounds
Awesome; this Friday sounds good to me.
Amanda, what times did you reserve the room for?
It is reserved from 9am to
It is reserved from 9am to 6pm, but I don't think anyone would be kicked out til the store closes at 8. :) I'll get there at 9 (it may be a few minutes after -- I drop my daughter at daycare down the street at 9) to open it up. Let me know if there is interest in starting earlier ... I could maybe arrange that, too.
I'll try to be there at 9,
I'll try to be there at 9, though will likely do so by 10.
Sounds like a great idea
I don't know if I'll make it this Friday, but I like where this is going

I am looking for advice on my OWS drupal 6 site
I will most assuredly come to the Friday work-together if someone
might be interested in looking at http://ows.nottoolate.info to advise me on
making this a MAJOR site for Occupy writers and leaders. I cannot
let it fail. I have read 6 books and worked only 3 months with drupal.
I use drupal 6. I need a quick audit and advice. Please feel free to
email me directly -- so I don't always have to hang everything out here.
lorlarz@gmail.com Thanks.
I'm out of town this week,
I'm out of town this week, and probably next week. But am interested in coming to these whenever I am in town. I've also got lots of things like power cords, surge protectors, etc that I can bring when I'm around if they are needed. Sounds like fun. It's always nice to hang out with other people even if I'm just sitting in the corner working on my own stuff. There's something about yelling "YES!" after figuring something out when there are other people around ... even if they could care less. :)

What I have to bring to the table: JavaScript ...
If you wonder what you might get from me. I have made full JavaScript applications for over a dozen years. And I know all one needs to know to use it: all css, html, dom. (Word is Drupal people are interested in JS, nowadays.) I have programmed in PHP for over 6 yr. I am still wondering if anyone will be willing to advise me on my OWS site ( http://ows.nottoolate.info ) . I do not know if I should show up if no one is interested in helping with that. Hi lorlarz2,
It sounds like a good project you are working on, and I am certainly a OWS supporter. I just wanted to make sure it was clear that the coworking space is for people to get work done: speaking for myself, I have a lot of work and not enough time to do it! I'm sure one of us would be happy to help with a specific question (or at least try!), but this might not be the best place to ask for general support or suggestions for your site. Does that make sense?
So - definitely come if you are able, but perhaps try to keep in mind that many of us will be there to have camaraderie while doing our work -- not to offer support.
Thanks,
Amanda
OK. I got it. How's this ...
For every minute I can help someone with JavaScript, I maybe can accrue a minute advice for my site (to help save our country) -- the thing does run afterall, I just want to know if I am seeming to do everything correctly (for example, should I think about using Throttle?). If there appears to be no interest in JavaScript, I guess I should not show up at all. If I do a minute for a minute, I would (that way) be certain I am not a pest. But, please do let me know.
My thoughts exactly, Amanda.
My thoughts exactly, Amanda. Obviously, people are free to collaborate as they please, but I, for one, am looking to get some work done and will not be able to offer support really.
Example of how JS can help
Here is one example of how JavaScript can help the Drupal person:
