Nebraska Code Camp - 2nd Year

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

There was some discussion of this last year, but no one had any presentation ideas... The code camp is sponsored by the .Net User Group, but the organizers are really hoping to diversify the languages represented, if you have a developer-oriented Drupal presentation. They cut off the presentation proposals February 17.

Nebraska Code Camp is a free, community-driven developer conference. Our first event featured 25 sessions, and drew an attendance of over 180 people! I'd be interested in presenting. One easy and perhaps relatively "glamorous" presentation to make to developers who may have little or no knowledge of Drupal (but also might be informative to many who are familiar with it) would be one to show off the Views module.

Another would be to show off Drupal 7's entities/bundles/fields, though that might be a big topic because the "payoff" of those features is so vastly multifaceted.

Third idea could be to do a very high-level introduction to Drupal and its community, which would likely involve little "demo," but could have some, including showing some prominent yet diverse sites built with it. This may be the good one if you think the audience there will have very little knowledge of Drupal.

Hell, we could have a whole Drupal track, if we had enough folks interested in presenting.

I would welcome a co-presenter as well, to make it more entertaining and widen the knowledge base for questions.

Interested in hearing thoughts.

Drupal Presentations

I am new to Drupal, but beginning to delve into it through my Lincoln-based company. I am not in a position to present anything, but I just wanted to write to encourage these presentations, because I would love to attend. I have read a book, some online tutorials, and have begun to dabble on my own, but it always helps to see actual people using it.

So, take that for what it's worth. Thanks for your willingness to present!

I'm definitely interested in attending and hopefully presenting something Drupal related. I've started talking to a few of my developers to see if we can get a few more people to present something, with the goal of having enough for a whole track as Bob mentioned.

Another idea for a presentation: the more popular sessions at larger Drupal events are often those that focus on live prototyping with Drupal, such as building a clone of an existing site. At DIWD in New York there was a session that showed off a clone of meetup.com using Drupal 7 which was interesting and quite popular. Something like this is an interesting way to show off the flexibility of Drupal as well as some of the non-coding tools like CCK, Views, etc. that are so enticing to new users.

Organizers Would Love to Have us

I wrote to the organizers and they are strongly encouraging us to present. They are still in the planning phases and is unsure of the venue and capacity, but he invited us to submit as many presentations as we can. There is a chance it could turn into a Drupal track, if enough of us submit. I think it would further our cause as a group very well, if we were to present there. We have some very accomplished and well-spoken experts in our group. Deadline 2/17, so don't delay.
