After a nice winter vacation, we are back on track with more NodeStream news. We focused on two things the past week, improving the developer documentation and continued work on the migration to entity reference.
We noticed both internally and externally that building on top of NodeStream is still hard. In order to try and alleviate that, we started creating a lot of documentation for developers. The result is the Site building guide, which already contains a lot of information, from how to set up your project structure to different strategies for extending NodeStream. Please review it and post issues if you find things that doesn't make sense. One of the next things to do with the documentation is to document each feature and describe how it's built. We hope that this will help people get a better understanding of how NodeStream is working under the hood.
We also worked with supporting Entity References instead of the old references project. We have been working on this for quite some time, and the reason for that is that we also decided to get rid of a lot of views while doing the migration, since we were going to do that anyway for performance reasons. Another reason is that we have a lot of node reference fields and all of them have to be migrated and the configuration had to be changed. We now have a working patch in Needs review status over here. Please check it out and review it, so we can get it in.
