I see the very nice theme "Waffle" went fluid.
What part of the code would I borrow to make Acquia Marina fluid?

To change the width in
To change the width in general is easy by changing the width on #main-wrapper and #content-wrapper. If you're just using a two col layout, that should be enough. Going to fluid with three columns is a little more complex and requires more of a restructuring of the theme with margins to position the sidebars over the content. You'd have to study Waffles (or another fluid theme, like Garland) to see the full details of that.
But, we are working on a theme setting for fixed/fluid and this will be out in an upcoming release, if you can wait a bit :)
