I'll be there a noonish.

I'll be there at noon-ish, but the bookstore will still be open and available for those of you who show up earlier.

FYI - we need to find another

FYI - we need to find another location next week, there will be something going on in that room for the day. We could snag a table at 2nd Moon ... ? Or maybe reserve a room at the library?

Finding another location this week

Try the hosts at the Third Place in Saint Paul.

If you ask nicely, they might be interested in offering a free day for the Drupal community this week. Co-working businesses do like to have potential co-workers know about their existence and the services they offer, especially if they aren't as packed and busy as CoCo Minneapolis.

Thanks for the suggestion,

Thanks for the suggestion, Colin. That sounds like a possibility, but probably not on this short notice.

I'd like to get a realistic assessment of how many people will be coming. It hardly seems worth it to rent a library room if it's just mndonx and me. Thoughts?

Oh - many of them are free to

Oh - many of them are free to reserve. But sometimes it's hard to find an open one.

Plus 1 for Coworking Fridays

I will attend this week's session, and Maryann was also interested when I talked with her this morning. The conference room at the East Lake Street library is open on Friday. The meeting room is suitable for 5 minimum and 15 maximum. There's also a room at Hosmer available. Contact me off-line if you want help putting this together.

I think I could do East Lake

I think I could do East Lake -- but I've had so-so luck with the internet there, if I recall. It's a little slow.

East Lake sounds good to me

East Lake sounds good to me too. Do we want to chance it on the internet?

Sure - I'm OK with that. I

Sure - I'm OK with that. I can only be there for a few hours in the morning, as per usual.

Waiting...

Submitted a request for the conference room at the East Lake Street Library. We'll hear back in 4 hours. Once I know I'll post the event.

FYI, I also will only be there until noon on Friday.

Hi all,
Any news on a venue for this coming Friday? I'm planning on attending this time.

Boneshaker Books is open again for coworking on Friday, if people are up for it. The library was OK, but it doesn't open til 10am.

ArtsHub at Intermedia Arts

allie micka's picture

Another great option for a co-working venue is ArtsHub at Intermedia Arts. Advantage Labs moved into a permanent space here at the beginning of the year. We thought that as a since most people perceive us as a tech shop we wouldn't be welcome, but it takes all types to make up a community and they've been great to work with. The desks and permanent spaces are occupied by web and media producers, nonprofits, and makers so we fit right in. The gallery has been a really cool place to host our lab hours and Drupal mentored training events, and the breadth and variety of spaces have been great for different meetings and working sessions. Oh, and LynLake is a great place to get lunch! There's more on ArtsHub in this mnartists.org article.

For those of you who are freelancing and looking for a permanent solution, I encourage you to compare CoCo, The 3rd place and ArtsHub and then choose the one that fits your location, needs and style. In addition to ArtsHub, we usually work at CoCo in St. Paul 1 day a week, to keep things exciting and to represent in our fair capitol city.

If it's welcome, we'd also love to offer the ArtsHub as an option for a few of these organized Fridays. They may be willing to offer the space for this type of thing. If not, we'll be happy to sponsor some punchcards for the occasion. We've got a library of Drupal and internet books here, and coffee's on us.

Thanks for the suggestion,

Thanks for the suggestion, Allie. That's a pretty lovely spot you've got there.

I'll make sure we discuss this at tomorrow's session.
