Great idea, Nate. Looking forward to meeting up. I was curious if anyone knew of any courses for Drupal development in the area. Perhaps at Lafayette? If not, any online resources/courses that are particularly valuable. I currently work as a web producer for a site that utilizes Drupal and would like to know more about the hands on development.

Thanks!

I'm not aware of any local resources (other than coming to our meetup and chatting Drupal for a couple hours!). I did, however, attend a training at http://www.lullabot.com in Providence, RI that I found to be incredibly valuable. They also have online videos they've put together called Drupalize.me. I haven't looked into them in depth, but ...

The absolute best way is if you could attend the upcoming Drupalcon (drupalcon.org). I've been to two and found them to be a great way to really learn how to do things "the Drupal way". Each time I came away with a new and deeper understanding as to what makes Drupal 'Drupal'. Here are some videos from last year's Drupalcon: http://www.archive.org/search.php?query=drupalcon%20chicago. It's not the best quality but it's free!

I look forward to meeting you on the 1st!

I agree with Nate -- if you can afford to go to DrupalCon, it's the single best way to learn The Drupal Way. You'll also come away from the convention turbocharged with way more ideas than you could ever hope to program. :)

Hi Guys, Acquia is starting

Hi Guys,

Acquia is starting to promote their own educational curriculum through their network of partners. Currently they are offering some courses in Manhattan the next being March 7th - 9th. I am proud to say I will be providing the training for module and theme development for Blink Reaction:

If you guys are inclined to take a few hour trip to NYC this would be a great opportunity to get some high end Drupal training. I'd also love to see this grow to the Lehigh Valley area!

Thanks

Don't forget - the Lehigh

nateswart's picture

Don't forget - the Lehigh Valley Drupal meet up is this Thursday!

If you haven't signed up yet - please log in to groups.drupal.org and mark that you'll be attending! I'll be calling ahead for a table reservation for us (with a few extra seats for anyone who wants to drop in at the last minute).

We can discuss anything, but I am putting together a few small things surrounding mobile and web services to get us started. If you have anything similar feel free to prepare a demo (or just organize your thoughts and wing it). My assumption is that most everyone at the table will have a mobile device making this a perfect topic and demo type for this type of venue.

I'll be posting any last minute updates via Twitter since that may be easier for everyone via mobile as well. Feel free to check out @nateswart on Twitter to keep/get in touch with me last minute if needed.

See you on Thursday!

Great meetup tonight,

Great meetup tonight, everyone! I loved the discussion of web services (thank you Colin for going over your project and experiences with the services module)!

As Drupalcon draws nearer, I'll start a thread for that - both for anyone going and wanting to meetup in Denver as well as discussion for people not able to geo who'd like to pose questions that may be answerable via the conference.

I am assuming our next local meetup may happen in late April. It would be nice to alternate back to a more formal space where we could present current projects. If anyone has a venue suggestion (or is willing to offer up space, perhaps a conference room at their office) please let me know!

We have a conference room we

We have a conference room we might be able to use, but the office is in Breinigsville. I kind of assumed that would be too far, but let me know if it's not and I'll look into it.

My hope is to reach all of

My hope is to reach all of Lehigh Valley, so I don't think Breiningsville is too far at all. If you're willing to host, I think that's great! I'll be in contact as we get into April for specifics (or perhaps we can make some plans and brainstorm while in Denver).

Thanks!

Nice to meet you all.

Thank you for organizing this, Nate, it was nice meeting you all. I'm looking forward to researching some of the all I learned about (especially drush -- pretty cool). Thanks for not making fun of the rookie.
