This Conference, in its third edition, has become the most important forum for presentation and for the debate of ideas, projects and experiences in Spain and one of the most important events all over the world. In it's previous editions, held in Málaga and Mérida, more than 10,000 participants have been registered and more than 400 outstanding speakers have participated: politicians, people from telecommunications, businesses, Administration and Universities.
The Conference is structured in two main areas: Free Software and Free Knowledge. The main objective of the Free Software World Conference 3.0 is to create a framework of reference for the analysis of the development and evolution of the different strategies that are being adopted by organizations in the introduction and implementation of Free Software and Free Knowledge in their structures, their policy strategies, their lines of investigation or their business models. The importance of this goal is highlighted for the significant movements, in both public and private sectors, that have happened in the last year relating the adoption of free technologies.
Special interest will deserve the tematic area allocated to Free Knowledge, the other fundamental pillar in this event and in which our Regional Government is one of the pioneer institutions. In this case, all the efforts will be focused on the analysis of the legal framework that makes possible the development of Free Knowledge, practic experiences, as well as the possibilities as a key element in the elaboration of new cooperation policies for social and economic development in unfortunate regions.
Free Software and Free Knowledge is, for us, a challenge in all senses. It is not only a technical question, source code or computer's software. Free Software, Knowledge, shoot us a Challenge for Imagination, where we all have access to necessary elements in order to build a free and independent development model, with no limits than our own creativity and innovation ability, contributing to the extent of freedom and the equality of oportunities for progress. It's about the hard core of the development of a sustainable Knowledge Society, free and independent, where our main role is to promote one attitude, that is sharing knowledge.
