Local to Live site - Live sites Login does nothing?

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Hi

Have just uploaded a site to www.divinesolarpanels.com. The issue is that the local site works perfectly as does the live site with the exception that the login does not appear to work. You can type in the details etc but when you click the login button it just stays on /user and does nothing. Can anyone advise only I've been pulling my hair out on this for over 4 hours!

Thank you

Stephen

Hi, Have you tried

Hi,

Have you tried http://www.divinesolarpanels.com/?q=user

Could point to a rewrite issue?

Drupal 6 or 7?

Worked!

Fantastic! That worked. Why wouldn't it work on /user as opposed to /?q=user?

Will it always have problems logging in unless I go in this way?

Cheers

Update

For some reason it worked and I could see the black admin bar at the top then all of a sudden it disappeared and I can no longer get it back? There's just a blank white space in it's space? Any more advice :-)

Have you tried to go to /?q=admin and see what you get?

I'd say its likely to be you/your host does not have mod_rewrite enabled, or doesn't allow .htaccess overrides, potentially the .htaccess permissions might be wrong. but its doubtful.

I have never lost the top bar so I cant really help on that one, if its working locally fine, then it has to be server configuration that is causing issues.

Have you looked in the error log for any clues?

Has web host changed conf files?

I had this where the web host changed the config files they'd advised me to change so that mod_rewrite would work. It took a while to find, but was pretty quick to fix.

If this has never worked on the web host then you probably don't have this set up properly yet. Check that you can configure and use Clean URLs in Drupal, if not, then that's where I'd look first - ask your web host how to (re-) enable it.

Thanks everyone

Thanks everyone, this has appeared to fix things, although I'm still not clear how this affects whether the admin bar appears or not (and then sometimes does again???)..... no need to answer this though :-)
