Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

I am not sure if this is the right venue for my problem. I am a drupal beginner and presently at the exploration stage. I have been trying out Omega theme which looks very promising and I congratulate the author on his excellent work.
Creating a subtheme vent smoothly and everything worked fine. Then I downloaded Beta, Gamma and Respond to learn best practices and then trouble started. Neither did work: The Beta and Gamma not at all - Respond reported errors same as the other two but otherwise worked.

See the photos for the results.

What can be happening? Strange since my suptheme worked perfectly.

Hi JBL, Omega underwent a large change / advance when it moved from 7.x.2 to 7.x.3. Beta and Gamma work with the 7.x.2 version of Omega. They have not been updated yet for the current version of Omega.

Thanks

Hi ontological

Thank you for a promt answer!! I would very much like to use this theme and indeed Drupal for upcoming projects.
The more I dig into it the more I realize the power. On the other hand the learning curve is rather steep for a Drupal greenhorn like me, which is not surprising given the complexity and scopeof the system. The world owes a huge gratitude to the people behind it.

Thanks a lot...

If you want a jumpstart to your Omega education do the following:

  1. RTFM: http://drupal.org/node/819164 <--- The Omega Documentation Team put a lot of time and effort into making sure this guide steps a new user through the learning process as quickly and simply as possible. It is outlined in such a way that if you start at the beginning and step through each page in the handbook you will be up and running in no time flat.

  2. Join #drupal-omega on IRC http://drupal.org/irc/setting-up <--- You do not need to be a web ninja to figure this out. It's easy and gives you direct access to the Omega Team. We are kind, helpful and almost always available. Drop in and say hi!

(The current available contrib subthemes as of 03.10.2012 are not 3.x compatible. There is a major effort underway to deliver new contrib subthemes based on 3.1 ETA TBD but the effort is underway.)
