Agile Process Planning Poker Module

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Planning poker is fun, but if you're on a distributed team how do you play?

There are online tools to do this, but I'd like a simple way to do this in Drupal. Some thoughts:

  • If all your issues are stored in Drupal then you could play poker with a node that consists of a nodereference field and a number field and then display the results of those node submissions. This feels like a sledgehammer solution.

  • An alternate custom module where a facilitator creates a poker area with settings for the possible point values and a box for the story ID they are currently discussing. Users are invited to the area and presented with the current story number and boxes for their own score. The users submit their values and then the moderator clicks a button to "fix" the votes at which point everyone's points are shown. The users with high and low values are highlighted on the screen. To be really good this probably requires some fun AHAH action.

For most people I consider the second option the only viable option as it doesn't require the stories to live in Drupal.

Anything else I'm missing? Has anything already been done in this area?
