Any interested in sprint at DrupalCamp Twin Cities on May 20th?

We encourage users to post events happening in the community to the community events group on https://www.drupal.org.

There's a great event called DrupalCamp Twin Cities going on May 18-19, 2012 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA. Since the event is fairly close to me, I've been thinking about organizing a Media sprint on Sunday, May 20th (as well as during the camp of course!). I'd like to gauge how many people would be seriously interested in attending a full-day sprint. Interested? Comment here!

I'm interested. I would like to continue the improvement of the accessibility of the Media module. I went last year and it was a great camp.

I would be very interested in helping out with a media sprint! I'm also on the twin cities camp organizing committee.

Thanks for thinking of us :)

I'm interesting in participating for at least part of the day.

I'm in, too

I'm in, too, although I'm also on the organizing committee and I may be a bit biased. :-)

I've often though that the Twin Cities would be a great place for a media sprint since the Twin Cities is home to numerous public media organizations that use (or are moving to) Drupal, including American Public Media, Minnesota Public Radio, Public Radio International, MinnPost, SPNN, and KFAI.

I'm interested. I'm not on

I'm interested. I'm not on the organizing committee, but I haven't spent much time with Media either. I'll try to fix that between now and May 20th.

Wont be able to make it in person, but will be on standby in #drupal-media testing patches and anything else you guys will come up with.

I am VERY interested, but it is probably unrealistic that I will actually be able to make it. I will, however, be available virtually to sprint with you guys remotely.

I'm interested as well, I'm

I'm interested as well, I'm one of the organizers of the camp like Matt and will definitely be around on Sunday! We'll probably have some other sprints going on too, details to come soon!

space needs

Great to see this coming together.

I'm your friendly camp venue coordinator, so please ping me if/when this sprint becomes official with any spint space needs you might have. I would assume we'll need projection screens, adequate power, campus wireless and snack-friendly rooms.

But, I think the main thing I'll need to know right off the bat are the times you'd need the space (since most University spaces are on reduced hours on Sunday). I was thinking maybe 9:00am to 9:00pm. Would that work?

Hi Chad, I think a tentative

Hi Chad,

I think a tentative plan would be 9am until 5pm since I'd have to catch a flight back to Omaha that night. This is still pending a discussion with Palantir about getting me up there. I'm in contact with Ray via e-mail on this.

Sounds great

We have a large room set aside for 1-3 simultaneous sprints. I'll ping Ray for details of the Media sprint as they develop.

You're coming to Minneapolis?

No wai! I'm definitely in.

Are you looking for a project to sprint on?

My non-profit is circulating a call for feedback on our proposed BeNeighbors.org directory.

Long story short, we are working to move 10,000 people into online neighborhood forums across St. Paul (and beyond ... but that is what is funded) in a way that reaches people of color, lower income, etc.

We have the "Neighbors Forums" up and running our current tech, but we envision a "Got Milk?" style directory/crowd-sourced site that help people find not just our forums but also the many private "electronic block clubs" hosted on many different sites but impossible to find/see the areas missing them (most).

Anyway, we've received some feedback that Drupal is worth a solid look based on this rough outline: http://pages.e-democracy.org/BeNeighbors_specification

Some feedback:

Since everyone is a neighbor somewhere, we are very interested in picking a technology base that can leverage talent across the community and bolster our basic resources for this idea. Note that we see a possible opportunity to adapt Drupal-based: http://citygroups.org

I can buy lots of pizza and beer to power any sprinting on or near the day!

Cheers,
