One of the most used features of WSUM's current site is the playlist entry and search. Even with the interface being clunky, the DJ's at the station do a fantastic job of real-time entry to the db. In my live playlist entry post, I mentioned how the DCMA requires this information now. While I am not as concerned with that as I am getting the information to the public, I would like to examine the possibilities of starting to get live playlist entry into or connected to station.module.
Here are some suggestions for the real-time entry;
- Playlist entries should break node to node in time with the archive files. This allows for proper linking between the archive node and the playlist node.
- Host should be able to override the show title real-time. This would be an easy way to address the issue of substitutions in the schedule module.
- IP restricted? It would make for easier administration to try to keep a list of IP's which are able to access this module.
I am not a coder, but I am willing to share the existing php code for the playlist entry at wsum.org if anybody thinks this might help development.
