Create a Intranet as a repository for project evaluations with roadmap

I need to create a kind of intranet
as a website for a subsidiary company of a university where
users who own projects can upload their progress (pdf files) and can be reviewed by departments responsible for the revision and thus advance their project in a roadmap or a series of booths evaluating their project

any ideas?
someone who wants to support me and needs support for some tasks?

Views on Alternate Database

Hi!

I am a Drupal learner but have quite a bit of other software and database experience, I would say semi-professional. Is there a way to use Views on an alternate database (i.e., not the Drupal one for the web site) without writing php code - or at least very little php code (since I have no php experience)?

Thanks,
r4

Handling large spike of un-cachable requests.

Hi all.

I've been tasked with building a high performance, high capacity website for a client and so have been reading up on best practices. I'm getting familiar with the cache based approach for both authenticated and anon. users, APC, varnish etc - however I'm finding it difficult to find best practices regarding non-cachable requests.

-- EXAMPLE --

Suppose my website were to give away 500 free donuts to the first 500 people who correctly answer a multiple choice question. This figure would be stored in a field called "QTY" on the "freebie" content type.

Problem about database configuration in installation of OpenScholar

It comes with me when I am setting database configuration in installation of OpenScholar.

Warning: in DatabaseConnection->__construct() (line 304 of C:\BitNami\wampstack-5.3.23-0\apps\drupal\htdocs\includes\database\database.inc). Warning: htmlspecialchars(): Invalid multibyte sequence in argument in check_plain() (line 1572 of C:\BitNami\wampstack-5.3.23-0\apps\drupal\htdocs\includes\bootstrap.inc).

And, I cannot log in the server by using "root" and the password I set previously.

How can I solve it?

Drupal Database Best Practices?

I've been using Drupal now for a couple of years but I'm still learning how to program for Drupal and what the best practices are for this.

My question is about adding tables to the database. For the tables that I need to use on my site, is it better practice to add these to the Drupal database (prefixing them so that they are easily separated from the Drupal tables) or should I create a separate database for site specific tables?

Thanks,
Dan

Tests failing after a core patch changed the database

Hi all

I've just committed a patch (http://drupal.org/node/1495510) to the core Taxonomy module. The patch includes an addition of a database column. The automated tests fail, seemingly because the database that the tests are being run on doesn't have the extra field: http://qa.drupal.org/pifr/test/373168

Is that what's happening? If not, what's going on? Is there a way to make the tests pass?

Thanks!

Queries through RDF-core

Hi all

Being a Drupal newcomer, I am working on two projects where we would like to consume defined and existing RDF-data in the search query coming out of our library catalogue (using Drupal). Our main aim is to query a RDF-container and then display a result-set of records from our catalogue. The records to be displayed from our catalogue will contain the ID of the "found" RDF-data-element.

RDF-core in Drupal7 seems to do what we want, but I need to give further specifications to several of our partners and I lack the detailed information so far.

Advice on Technique for LOD-enabled "Digital Library"

Good morning,

I've cross-posted this to both Semantic Web and Libraries because I think there are elements that appeal to both.

I'm going to give a bit of background on the project I'm working on and hopefully I can get some confirmation as to whether or not this is the "best" way to go about doing this. This is Drupal 7, of course. So far, I've been moving in the most obvious direction and using the tools that are most readily available.
