With responsive being the new cool for websites, we will take a look at the popular Omega theme from Drupal 7, and share some of the tricks to making it work the way you want. This is not a "what is responsive design?" type presentation, there are enough of those on the web to fill your heart with joy. This is a real world solution finding discussion with demos of a soon to be launched website. Trent Stromkins is a front end developer at ImageX Media, and runs his own freelance shop Small Robot.

Lightning Talks

Attendees are invited to share their experience by giving a 2 to 4 minute presentation on any topic of interest to the Drupal community. If you want to use a laptop to show a website or control panel please be sure you have the necessary cable (vga) to connect to an overhead projector.

Date: June 28, 2012 - 6:30pm
Location: The Network Hub, 3rd Floor, 422 Richards Street, Vancouver, BC

Cost: There is no charge and all are welcome.

For those who don't need to leave right away there's typically a more social discussion at a local pub afterward.

Hey Steve - I just heard about the Omega theme at the Port Moody Drupal meetup. I look forward to seeing more about how it helps support responsive design.

Thanks for a great presentation Trent. My only complaint would be that there was too much information to absorb in one sitting.

I haven't used Omega since version 2 beta, but I was impressed with what you've done with it and am now planning on using it again.

Hi Trent, do you have any

Hi Trent, do you have any presentation material (slides, images, video)?

Nothing really I could share

Nothing really I could share that would be useful. It was more free flowing. Where there any points you wanted clarification on?

Missed the event.

I arrived in Vancouver just over 2 weeks ago and somehow missed hearing about this DUG. It would have been great to attend ... next one for sure.

Did anyone record video from the event? Thanks!

There is tons of

There is tons of instructional material including videos and howtos all over the net. I was especially impressed with your workflow and devious workarounds for easy userbility. Disabling the content region and building your own is a smart plan to gain control of the main page layout, and adding html to the description field for slideshow image fields was an act of brilliance. Thanks for a great talk, and for your compelling reasons to switch to the Omega theme.

Neat ideas

Making a new region to quickly change the layout sounds like a quick and interesting idea, and save you from configuring another delta.

Speaking of adding html to the description field for slideshow image fields , is this simply for additional formatting of the slideshow?
