how to make front-page image a swf file / is this possible?

I'm using the Acquia Slate theme, and very satisfied with it.

Would it be possible to make, or point me in the right direction to make the modification on my own, the front-page image/banner a .SWF file?

Before finding the above description, I tried faking a swf front-page banner by removing the front-page image entirely and placing a swf animation in the header-middle block. I have the SWF Tools module installed, so the block's content was really easy to define. However, it appeared offset to the right and clipped. Strange, I tried using the "inspect" feature in firebug to locate the header-middle block, and it shows the upper left corner being not at all in the same location as where the swf file appears.

I also tried, and removed from lack of success, modifying the header-middle css with "left: -30;", "overflow: auto;", and "z-index: 2"...

I've attached two images for your review:
1) the first one shows the swf file inside the header-middle block, being clipped and covered by my banner image
2) the second image is a screen capture from using the "inspect" feature of firebug, showing where firebug thinks the header-middle block is located. Notice the swf file is not inside that rectangle...
